So it's that time of year again.
The time we decide what we are going to put a pause on doing for the next 40 days and then reward ourselves with copious amounts of chocolate on Easter morning. Two years ago for lent I decided to give up sugar. This included any biscuits, junk food, chocolate and even my dear frosted flakes for breakfast! This was a perfect example of me setting my standards too high for myself. Five days in eating plain porridge for breakfast I finally caved. I went straight for the sugar puffs and a mug of coffee with my two sugars. I resumed to my daily routine of tea and biscuits... You don't realise how difficult it is to drink tea without a digestive biscuit in the other hand until you try it! At one stage I even found myself trying to satisfy the craving with a rice cake but that quickly ended when I accident dipped the rice cake into the tea out of pure habit! Last year I set a more realistic goal of sacrificing chocolate alone for the lent period. On day 24 Sassy made me a hot chocolate without thinking and the second that cocoa flavour passed my lips there was no going back. Just note that I did make it an entire 24 days without chocolate! This year I have decided to do something slightly different... I have decided to take up doing something new instead. Starting today I am determined to post an inspirational or uplifting quote every day on the Twitter account. For some added pressure I am awarding a free product of their choice to the first person to notify me if (when) I miss a day! Head over to our Twitter account to follow the challenge Let us know what your lent promise is in the comments below!!!

Here at Turra Crafts this week we have started planning for Mother's Day on March 26th. This year we decided we wanted to create a brand new product for the occasion.
It began with us all sitting around with some tea and biscuits to brainstorm some ideas. After much debate and an overdose of tea we settled on some core ideas for the frame. We each then set out to put our ideas to the test and create our own piece. The next day over yet another cup of tea we all showed our frames and discussed what we thought would work well and shared our opinions on the frames. Mum's (Sandra's) strong suit is not in the IT department so she decided to avoid the computer for the time being. Instead she created a hand sketched diagram of her idea which included a ridiculous amount of comical labels containing detailed instructions of what she wanted David to do for the final piece. Sassy's obsession of stones came back into the equation as she was creating her design. (Even though we had previously agreed on buttons!) She also refused to allow any opinions on her piece as it is "already perfect like her!" We will have to wait and see if it is produced on March 26th in some wrapping paper... We then compiled our favourite aspects of each frame into one final picture. We wanted to include a quote that showed our appreciation and love on Mothers Day but could also be displayed year round. We included a family representation that can be altered to suit each individual giving it a personal touch. Finally the heart to show the love we share on Mother's Day. We decided to add the frame to the Sona Collection by adding buttons along the stitched heart. After all... "Mothers are like buttons, they hold everything together!" We hope you like our 2017 Mother's Day creation and we are confident it will make a personal, meaningful gift this Mother's Day. We are now taking orders up until the 16th of March so make sure to order yours today!!! |
